Lose2Win Weight Loss Challenge

Lose2Win is a 10 week weight loss challenge offering participants accountability, encouragement, and tips on bettering their health. The program begins Wednesday, January 5, and ends Wednesday, March 16, 2022. Participants must weigh in every Wednesday, and have the option of weighing in at the Y, or at home and sending in a picture. There are two categories for the competition, male and female, that compete to lose the highest percentage of weight throughout the challenge. Results showing percentage of weight lost are posted every week under the participants chosen “secret name”. Actual weights are kept confidential; only percentage of weight lost is posted!

What is the YMCA Lose2Win Challenge?

  • 10 week weight loss competition beginning Wednesday, January 5, and ending Wednesday, March 16th, 2022
  • Participants weigh-in every Wednesday, either on their scale at home, or at the YMCA
  • At home weights should be emailed to Jacquelyn at [email protected]
  • Two categories (male and female) that compete to lose the highest percentage of weight

Participant Benefits

  • Use of the YMCA facility
  • Free group exercise and cycling classes
  • Free equipment orientation in the Wellness Center for those interested
  • Weekly weigh-ins and progress tracking
  • Free blood pressure screenings for those interested
  • Free body fat composition for those interested at the beginning and end of the competition
  • Weekly emails regarding nutrition, exercise, and weight loss to help you on your weight loss journey


  • The male and female that lose the highest percentage of weight at the end of the competition will be awarded a $25 Walmart gift card, a free three month Adult Membership, and 10 free group exercise classes.
  • Each participant that has lost at least 5% of their body weight at the end of the competition will receive a YMCA t-shirt. Must complete the challenge to earn a t-shirt.

Registration and Entry Fee

  • Registration can be completed online or at the front desk at the Y
  • Entry fee: $25 (YMCA member) or $65 (non-member)
  • No refund to participants who quit the competition or are disqualified

What are the Lose2Win Rules?

  • All participants must weigh-in each week. Special use of the YMCA facility and classes for non-members is only available if participating.
  • No disrobing permitted. Participants should weigh-in dressed as they deem necessary, and should keep their attire consistent for the weekly weigh-ins. Suggested attire includes shorts or light weight sweat pants, t-shirts or tank tops, and socks.
  • Fad diets promising rapid results are discouraged. They limit nutritional intake, can be unhealthy, and tend to fail in the long run.
  • Healthy eating and exercise are encouraged – emails on nutrition, exercise, and healthy weight loss will be sent each week
  • Must be age 13 or older by January 5th, 2022
  • YMCA staff have the right to make changes or clarifications to the rules at any time.

Reasons for Disqualification

  • Missing more than two weigh-ins total
  • Missing the last weigh-in, unless prior approval from Mikaela or Jacquelyn
  • Cheating of any kind
  • Pregnancy
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) below 18.5
  • Any surgery resulting in significant weight loss
  • Unhealthy and/or unfair weight loss practices

After registering for Lose2Win, be sure to join the private Facebook group so you can see updates, results, any tips or motivation that is posted, and to interact with other participants.
